The Continuing Studies Program is an advanced mentorship offering with instructor Alfred Galvez. The schedule is flexible, accommodating the availability of both the student and the instructor. Students are required to complete the program within one year by producing the specified number of paintings. All art materials must be provided by the student. Students have the option to create their work outside the atelier. However, if they wish to work in the studio, they must schedule an appointment to specify the date and time they intend to use the space. Instructors or assistant teachers will be available for consultation on those days. Demonstrations and lectures by the mentor will take place exclusively at the atelier. Consultations with the mentor can be conducted in person or through Viber, strictly by appointment. For any inquiries, please feel free to contact us.
This mentorship-based program focuses on helping you build your own body of work. You will develop your own concept and work towards achieving your initial style in drawing or painting. Any idea or subject can be discussed with your mentor. By the end of the program, students are expected to produce a series of 3 to 5 medium or small-sized paintings. Additional fees may apply if you wish to take a customized class based on your assessment and portfolio goals. For example, you might explore different media beyond dry and oil-based options, such as texturing materials, watercolor, acrylic, or specialized mediums for painting effects. Currently enrolled students of the open schedule or intensive workshops may apply.
This program is designed for students interested in figurative painting, with a strong emphasis on the human figure as the central subject. It includes instruction on portraiture and composition, as well as lectures and demonstrations on human anatomy. Students will apply advanced techniques in oil painting throughout the course. At the conclusion of the program, students will be tasked with creating five medium-sized paintings featuring various poses and different backgrounds or environments. They may choose from any realist genre, including surrealism, impressionism, fantasy realism, or contemporary figurative realism. The primary medium will be oil on canvas, though students may explore mixed media for backgrounds, provided the figure is painted in oil.
Student must be a graduate in Painting 2.0 or Intensive Drawing+Painting programs
The course will introduce fundamental drawing principles, beginning with an exploration of the skeletal structure, followed by an analysis of the muscles that define the surface contours of the body. The goal is to produce a series of studies that examine each section of the body to understand how each component integrates into the whole. Students will engage in exercises that involve constructing a human figure using the sight and size method, then deconstructing it according to anatomical structure and reconstructing it in fine detail. Classical drawing techniques will be applied throughout the course.
Students are required to finish the Drawing1.0 program
