In this course, students will learn various oil painting brushstroke techniques to enhance their artistic skills. By exploring a more rounded use of the paintbrush, students will discover how to create different effects in their paintings. They will also learn to utilize a multi-layered ground to evoke increased emotional impact in their artwork. Students will be guided on being mindful of their body and arm movements to achieve ultimate control over paint dispersion. Additionally, they will learn strategies to deal with short drying times and master the art of resolving a painting with artistic license, allowing for personal creativity and expression.
Sean James Cassidy is an accomplished artist who studied at renowned institutions such as the Julian Ashton School of Drawing and Charlie Sheard's studio. In 2005, he held his first solo exhibition in Sydney, followed by successful exhibitions in 2006 and 2007. In 2006, he was selected as an artist in residence at the University of the Philippines, where he studied Universal Language and taught 16th Century paint layering techniques. He also collaborated with Filipino artists to build a cultural hub in Sagada province, supported by Parkes (Sean's hometown) citizens, the Australian Embassy, and acclaimed Filipino artists.
As a Co-Director of the international art and music group, Ub Ubbo Exchange, Sean contributed to the development of the cultural hub in the Northern Philippines. He also worked on the Three Rivers project, identifying talented artists in remote areas and curating their art in multiple exhibitions. Sean curated the traveling exhibition "Melodies of Woven Light" in 2010, showcasing delicate artwork from the Philippines and involving local artists.
In addition, Sean actively shares his skills in the Parkes Shire, conducting workshops and holding events. Notably, he collaborated on the design and creation of a Peace Park in Parkes in 2017, representing different stages of conflict and paths to peace. Sean's career took a different turn after completing graphic design studies, securing an internship at the Special Broadcasting Service.
ACADEMIC PAINTING FUNDAMENTALS based on the French Academic Methods

This class has been specifically designed to cater to both beginners and experienced oil painters, aiming to teach them a clear and straightforward painting process that aligns with the documented processes of 19th century French Academics at private Ateliers. By the end of this course, participants will have gained valuable knowledge and skills. They will learn how to efficiently manage materials and organize their palette, as well as gain insight into the history of 19th century French Academic artists and their techniques employed at the École des Beaux-Arts. Additionally, participants will be introduced to color theory and learn how to effectively match colors. They will also grasp the nuances of using light and shadow to express forms, and acquire skills in utilizing both limited and full palettes in their work. Furthermore, this course will equip individuals with the ability to correct errors and mistakes while painting, as well as develop productive self-critiquing techniques. Ultimately, participants will obtain a solid foundation that will serve as a launching point for further exploration and the development of a personal approach to painting. Artists of all skill levels are wholeheartedly welcomed to join this class.
Ibon Villalon is a classical realist painter and licensed physical therapist from Davao City, Philippines whose artistic practice and inspiration is deeply rooted in the French academic painting and drawing techniques of the 19th century.
She received her training in drawing and painting under the tutelage of talented artists such as Alfred Galvez, Michael Britton, Sarah Margaret Gibson, and Ramón Alexander Hurtado.
One of her most notable projects is her Pet Portraits for a Cause where a portion of the earnings was donated to Animal Rescue Rehabilitation and Fostering (ARRF) Davao .
Villalon's work hangs in numerous private collections throughout the Philippines, U.S. and Europe, and can be currently found at Super Duper Gallery in Quezon City.

Roxanne Ricohermoso is a classically trained artist. She gained her trainings under Alfred Galvez, Michael Britton, Ramon Hurtado, Alex Venezia and Jennifer Gennari an internationally renowned animal contemporary artist who inspired her to do professional pet portrait painting. She started this creative venture year 2020 and have buil up a good pool of clientele from celebrities in the Philippines and also clients internationally SouthEast Asia, Europe & U.S. Currently . Also an active collaborator of an animal rescue foundation Pawssion Project for Portraits for a cause.
She is also working on figurative paintings for her exhibits in different galleries (Super Duper Gallery, Provenance Contemporary Gallery, 8 Rooms Creative Space, Gallery Roberto, Arte Bettina Gallery, Nuzen Art Gallery) and Art Fairs such as Art Fair Philippines & Xavier Art Fest.
